Greenshaw High School

Frankham was appointed to provide architectural services for the expansion of Greenshaw High School located in Sutton in Surrey for RIBA Stages 4 and 5.

Greenshaw High School is a secondary school academy operating under a recently established multi academy trust with 1670 pupils.

The school required additional teaching and office spaces, improved circulation to existing spaces and improved ancillary spaces such as increased WC, dining/school hall and staffroom capacity.

The works provided a new 1962sqm, three storey brick-clad extension which required demolition of the existing staff offices and entrance. The scheme also included refurbishment works around the school to sixth form offices, a ramped access corridor, new sixth form WCs, a flexible school hall extension/dining/seminar space, an adjacent WC block, relocated staircase,
enlarged circulation lobby, classroom refurbishments, refurbished and extended staffroom and reprographic spaces and landscaping work to provide car parking, access and planting.

On completion the expansion works enabled the school to increase student numbers from 1670 to 2070 and staff from 202 to 243.
